Equipment to Use (Offshore)

Rods: 10 – 14Wt 8 ½ - 9 ½’

Line: Seamless Shooting Head System,(600 grain) shooting head system or  intermediate  line to match rod size. If you decide to try for blue marlin bring that 14wt with a good quality reel with lots of backing.  If you are not interested in I.G.F.A. rules try using a 36” bite tippet of 125lb.

Leaders: 20 lb. fluorocarbon with 125 lb. shock tippet if fishing for billfish

Reels: Direct or Anti-Reverse model with a disc drag system, designed for Saltwater use

Other: Polaroid Sun Glasses,  Butt plate for fighting the big guys

When to Fish (Offshore) 

All day can be good, at slack tide try to be where you have seen the most fish that day.
