Equipment to Use (Beach)

Rods:8Wt. to 10Wt. 9’

Line:  Seamless Shooting Head System (300 grain)  for sandy areas, intermediate or floating with sink-tip  for fishing around the rocks

Leaders: Non-tapered fluorocarbon  6 foot in length. Start with 20 lb.

Reels: Direct or Anti-Reverse model with a disc drag system, designed for Saltwater use that has a quick take apart feature for cleaning.

Other: Polaroid Sunglasses,  Stripping basket, some kind of foot protection, for walking on the rocks. I don’t recommend  float tubes or small inflatable pontoon boats in this area because of the Pacific influence which can cause large swells, waves and undertow.

When to Fish (Beach) Low light in the mornings and afternoon can be very productive. Incoming  tides seem to produce better action and midday is best for sight casting opportunities.
